How is the Draft Angle determined for MIM? What is the Difference between the Draft Angle for MIM and Injection Molding?

Date:2025-07-31   Views:1001

The draft angle is a slope designed on both sides of the mold cavity to facilitate demolding.

There is a difference between the draft angle for MIM and injection molding because MIM must address the fragility of the green part and sintering shrinkage, so a larger draft angle (1°–5°) is required; while injection molding only needs to overcome demolding friction, so a small draft angle (0.5° to 2°) is sufficient.

The draft angle should be determined based on factors such as the product's wall thickness and features.
